Racing with automobiles has a long history, much longer than most people who watch

modern racing on TV may expect. It goes back beyond the start of F1 world championship

in 1950, and even beyond the glorious time of the Silver Arrows in the Thirties, in fact the

first competition has been held as early as 1894 with the Paris–Rouen Trail.

This history is fascinating, may be today even more than in the period itself, and much

people are keen to know more than the standard literature can offer. So some of them

started to dig in archives around the world to find out more about a certain period, or a

specific make, driver, team, or event. Some of them are well-known and professional authors,

but most are doing such research in their leisure time and purely for hobby purpose.
